Meet Our Adult Learners

Below are some Adult Learners who have achieved great results during their time with us, or who have gone into great career or study routes.

Mohammad Usman - Accountancy

After achieving his NVQ Level 2 and 3 AAT accountancy qualifications in one year full time, Mohammad Usman then returned in 2007-8 to gain his Level 4 AAT Technician award in one year of part time study.

Susanne Wood - Teacher Training

Susanne Wood passed her City and Guilds Certificate in Further Education Teaching, Stage 3, while also teaching essential skills at our Leamington Centre.

Gareth Humphreys - Academic Studies

A Level student Gareth Humphreys was nominated for an Adult Learner of the Year award after overcoming problems to return to study.  Gareth is taking A levels in philosophy, English language and literature and history, and is aiming to study ancient history at university.

Tina Williams - Adult Return to Learn

Tina Williams studied a Foundation Access course at and is now planning to progress to an Access course and go to University to study for a nursing degree.

 

Veterinary Nurses

Veterinary nursing students achieved a 100 per cent success rate in their RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons) exams, keeping up the college’s record of a full pass rate for students on the NVQ Level 2 in the previous seven years.

Gary Ramsden - Furniture

Gary Ramsden’s furniture has been in several exhibitions and he has been working on ideas for his future business while improving and increasing his skills.

Dhiren Mistry  and Tim Ray -  IT

Student Dhiren Mistry (OCR National Certificate Level Two IT Course) was honoured for his work at the 2008 Business and IT Awards Ceremony.

Luke Thompson - Construction

Bricklaying NVQ student Luke Thompson won the ‘Derek Spencer Junior Achiever’ award in the Guild of Bricklayers’ regional heats.

William French and Jamie O’Dwyer - Engineering
William French and Jamie O’Dwyer graduated from the HNC Engineering course in 2008 having studied part time, both funded by their employers. Both plan to top up their qualification to a degree.

Fleur Craven  - English and Maths Essential Skills

Fleur Craven decided to come back to education to brush up on her skills.  She passed her Level 2 exam in English and Level 1 in maths, then decided to progress to an Access course.

Kasea Kusmierz  - Food and Drink

Kasea Kusmierz works at the Thomas Oken Tea Rooms in Warwick, and says she feels more confident about what she is doing in the kitchen after taking a food safety course at Warwickshire College. She was even able to take the exam in her native Polish.

 Kelly Taylor - Hair and Beauty

Kelly Taylor is studying for a Foundation Degree in Spa Management, having taken part-time courses in hair and nail work, then Beauty Therapy Level 2 and Level 3.

 

Monique Wearden and Christine Briffitt - Counselling

Monique Wearden and Christine Briffitt both gained the Level 4 Diploma in Theory and Practice of Counselling at the Leamington Centre. They studied one year part-time to gain a certificate, then an extra two for the diploma.

Alice Sears - Horticulture

Alice Sears took the HNC Professional Gardening course at Pershore College, studying one day a week for two years.  She has now started her own garden maintenance company.

 

 

Joe Lea - Sport

Joe Lea has taken his National Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science, then the Higher National Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science.  He was a finalist in the Higher Education Volunteering Awards.

Laura Taylor - Equine

18-year-old Laura Taylor has completed her Level 2 Racing Apprenticeship at Warwickshire College, while working for the well-known Roger Brookhouse Racing Yard in Alcester.
